The Travel Nurse RN ICU position involves providing specialized nursing care in a 4-bed Intensive Care Unit with a focus on step-down patients requiring close monitoring and occasional medication drips. The role requires flexibility to float to med-surg and telemetry units, with a patient ratio that varies based on acuity, and the possibility of pediatric care and PALS certification. This 13-week travel assignment in Keyser, West Virginia offers competitive weekly pay, benefits starting day one, and requires the nurse to be highly independent due to limited staffing.

Job Description & RequirementsUnit Notes

Floating to medsurg/telemetry and to occasional 1:5-6 ratio. this is based on acuity and would not be applicable for "critical" ICU patients
Would love someone who is agreeable to pediatric care and obtaining PALS while there
Our icu is a 4 bed icu but functions as a step down pt type of unit. We very rarely have a vent and for the most part these pts are bipap pts and drips such as insulin, cardizem, and levophed on occasion. The ratio is 2:1 but can go to 4:1 with low acuity pts. That unit is only staffed with 1 Rn and 1 tech but our medsurg unit is connected so the nurse does need to be rather independent. We utilize telemedicine for virtual icu with the intensivists from wvu but also have local attendings managing the pts.
