Job Summary

Wilson Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or OR First Assist to join our surgical team on a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during operative procedures by preparing and handling instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and ensure the operating room is sterile and organized.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly.
  • Perform duties of a First Assist, including tissue handling, wound exposure, and suturing under the direction of the surgeon.
  • Collaborate with perioperative team members to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.
  • Document procedures and maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies.
Qualifications
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
  • OR First Assist certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an operating room setting.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a travel healthcare role.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and teams.
Working Conditions
  • Hospital operating room environment.
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting surgical equipment.
  • Travel assignment; housing and travel stipends may be provided.
