Job Summary Geisinger is a seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wound Care Specialist to join our team in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As an integral member of our Musculoskeletal Institute, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive wound care to patients with complex wounds.
Job Duties

At a Glance:

• Minimal Call Coverage.
• No Weekend Coverage

Job Competencies:

• Competences in the following: wound debridement, skin/wound biopsy, wound culture, incision and drainage, use of bio-engineered skin substitutes, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including endocrinologists, podiatrists, general, vascular, plastic, and orthopaedic surgeons, and infectious disease specialists, to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Ensure seamless coordination of care among healthcare professionals involved in the patient's treatment journey.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, risks, and benefits in a compassionate and understandable manner. Provide guidance on post-operative care, rehabilitation protocols, and preventive measures to minimize complications and optimize outcomes.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in wound care including but not limited to diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and arterial ulcers. Actively participate in research initiatives, clinical trials, and professional conferences to contribute to medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting medical history, surgical procedures, and treatment plans. Adhere to institutional and legal guidelines concerning patient privacy and data security.
• Pursue ongoing education and training opportunities to, stay updated with emerging trends in wound care, and maintain professional certifications and licenses.

Board certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine is required for this position and must be accomplished within two (2) years of either the date of hire

Wound Care Certification - Required

Education Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine- (Required)
