Job Description
Join Optum as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator, where you'll play a vital role in improving health outcomes by connecting patients with care and resources. In this full-time position, you will handle patient registration, manage insurance details, and ensure a smooth experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates directly with patients and families to complete the registration process
Utilizes computer systems to enter and verify patient data
Processes referrals, pre-certification, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizations
Verifies insurance coverage and creates price estimates
Collects patient co-pays and discusses financial obligations
Identifies and collects outstanding balances from previous visits
Responds to patient inquiries with compassion and respect
Generates and reviews patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week)
Ability to stand for most of the 8-hour shift
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of customer service experience
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
