Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Morgantown, WV (Zip: 26506) – West Virginia nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Trauma, General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery
• Unit: 7 East Trauma & General Surgery Inpatient (Stepdown & Med-Surg Floor)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 21, 2025
• End Date: February 20, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (Weekend Nights: Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,860 - $2,000
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 (Floor), 1:3 (Stepdown)
• Charting System: EPIC

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – open to out-of-state nurses willing to obtain West Virginia licensure
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (Stepdown, Cardiac Stepdown, or similar units preferred)
• Proficiency in complex wound care, drains, medical devices, traumatic injuries, chest tubes, respiratory support, TBI, and spinal cord injuries
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to trauma, general surgery, bariatric, and med-surg patients in both stepdown and floor settings
• Manage complex wound care, drains, and medical devices
• Care for patients with traumatic injuries, including chest tubes and respiratory support
• Monitor, interpret, and validate cardiac rhythms
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including care management, surgical/medical services, and rehabilitation
• Float to similar acute care units as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
