Albany Family Medicine is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive patient care. This role involves collaboration with physicians, patient assessments, and managing medical needs in a supportive and rewarding environment, with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
Practice medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions
Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
Assess patient status by obtaining health history
Order/perform laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests
Treat illnesses, give injections, suture wounds
Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care
Counsel patient/family on preventive health care
Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, and clinical guideline development
Required Qualifications
License and active registration as a physician assistant or registered nurse/nurse practitioner in New York State
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in physician assistant studies or completion of an accredited program
Passing grade on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination
Current certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
At least one year of experience as a physician assistant in ambulatory health care
Current CPR certification
Successful completion of a nurse practitioner education program acceptable to NYSED
Current certification as a nurse practitioner by AANPCB or ANCC
Successful completion of pharmacology coursework acceptable to NYSED
At least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in ambulatory health care
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting
