Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You'll support fellow veterinarians, enhance animal welfare, and make a significant impact on pet owners' lives. This role combines clinical responsibilities with leadership opportunities in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
  • Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
  • Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging and teamwork
  • Schedule CM staff veterinarians and per diems for optimal coverage
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high volume spay/neuter procedures
  • Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification is required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
