Position Summary Studio71 is seeking a Senior Director, Content & Music Operations to lead a specialized team focused on content protection, policy enforcement, and rights management across major digital platforms. This individual should possess a deep understanding of platform guidelines and policies—especially YouTube—and know how to protect and monetize creator content in an evolving digital landscape. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of YouTube CMS operators, content protection specialists, and policy managers. Supervise content administrators and interns responsible for dispute resolution and strategic operational tasks. Plan and execute projects aligned with the content operations strategy, tailored to creators' and music artists' evolving needs. Train and mentor team members on platform policies, metadata best practices, and rights management workflows. Serve as Studio71's internal authority on YouTube and DSP platform policies around monetization, community guidelines, copyright, and advertiser suitability. Act as the primary liaison to YouTube's policy and partner teams, escalating issues and advocating for the fair treatment of owned content. Guide cross-functional teams—including Creator Partnerships and Legal—on compliance, policy adherence, and risk mitigation. Assert and protect Studio71's music and video rights in UGC across platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Facebook, and more. Oversee asset ingestion and organization for both video and music catalogs within the YouTube CMS and other rights management systems. Own the health and strategy of music asset delivery and claiming, ensuring accuracy in metadata, ownership, and monetization policies. Collaborate with music distributors, aggregators, and DSPs to ensure proper delivery and policy compliance across platforms. Manage ISRC, UPC, and metadata accuracy to support correct royalty flows and platform reporting. Develop and maintain monetization strategies for music and video content across YouTube, DSPs, and social platforms. Ensure proper mapping and policy setting for monetized assets to maximize revenue while minimizing conflicts. Track content performance and royalties, identifying gaps in monetization and content protection. Partner with finance and rights teams to support accurate reporting, audits, and revenue forecasting. Ensure high standards of quality control across audio/video assets distributed to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms. Represent Studio71's music and content management capabilities in client-facing meetings and calls. Stay informed on platform developments, industry standards, and emerging music distribution models. Qualifications 8+ years of experience in digital content operations, with strong focus on YouTube and music asset management. Experience with DSP distribution workflows, music ingestion platforms (e.g. FUGA, The Orchard, Believe, or CD Baby), and delivery specs. Proven leadership in managing rights-based operations across music and video catalogs. Expertise in music monetization strategy, metadata management, and UGC content claiming. Working knowledge of music licensing frameworks, publishing rights, and sound recording rights (master vs. composition). Proficient in handling ISRC, ISWC, UPCs, DDEX feeds, and audio/video fingerprinting tools. Fluent in YouTube CMS and rights management systems; certified in YouTube Content Ownership and Asset Monetization preferred. Deep understanding of YouTube's monetization and content policies, and broader copyright frameworks (DMCA, music licensing, fair use). Experience supporting legal teams in resolving disputes and takedowns related to both audio and video content. Skilled in using platform analytics and operational metrics to drive monetization and rights strategy. Experience with MS Excel (including VLOOKUP, SUMIFS), Dropbox, FTP, and DSP ingestion platforms. Familiarity with music reporting and royalty dashboards, including YouTube Music, Spotify for Artists, and Apple Music for Artists. Strong communicator capable of translating complex operational or legal issues for non-technical stakeholders. Relationships with partner operations contacts at DSPs and social platforms.
