We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of dedicated employees at our facility in Woodland, WA, as part of our Burton Mill Solutions division. Come and grow with us!

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for complex engineering projects involving the development of manufacturing methods and processes to efficiently and effectively produce a variety of company product lines. As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will investigate, establish, and implement requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing including make of buy decisions and facility layout as required for new or revised product, from pilot runs through normal production.

Pay range for this position is $85,000.00-100,00.00 USD annually.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Hands-on engineering – help to design innovative and technically sophisticated machine tools, using engineering fundamentals
Make engineering calculations and organization of data
Prepare conceptual sketches
Initiate and expedite engineering changes resulting from project assignment evaluation
Collaborate with shop supervisors and cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate and recommend design alternatives that enhance manufacturability, reduce cost, and improve production efficiency
Establish lean promotion in conjunction with Corporate Lean Office
Support continuous improvement and waste elimination activities at all manufacturing locations
Support development of internal training program in lean methodology
Coach and train employees in lean principles
Utilize Value Stream Maps to identify areas for Kaizen events and facilitate Kaizen teams during events
Responsible for the disposition of inventory when it becomes obsolete due to product life cycle or engineering changes
Make transaction entries in ERP system to maintain inventory records
Establish purchasing programs that support build-to order
Identify components that can be managed with supplier stocking programs and work with purchasing to implement their use
Establish build-to-Order techniques that reduce product lead time and implement their use
Establish Pull Systems to manage build-to-order components
Develop flat BOM structures with “M” phantoms to increase workflow
Process ECN changes including affectivity dates, product costs, and BOM changes
Make routing changes to accommodate build-to-order processes
Work with VPs and Plant Managers to develop site plans for each manufacturing plant

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering
3+ years’ experience in plant/operations or equivalent work experience
Practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, electrical circuits, and general machine design principles and components
Engineering fundamentals and principles
Solidworks experience
Practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, electrical circuits, and general machine design principles and components
Demonstrate Lean Manufacturing Principals
Excellent leadership skills with a strong sense of urgency, ability to problem solve
