Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will lead a dedicated team in providing high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You'll support veterinarians, perform surgeries, and ensure that every pet receives compassionate care, all while promoting teamwork and community well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
  • Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
  • Support a positive work culture through regular 1:1s and performance evaluations
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
  • Participate in administrative duties such as scheduling and meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification is required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
