Med/Surg RN Job Details

Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,510 - $1,620

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Ohio or compact state
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical bedside experience in a Med/Surg unit (2 years preferred)
• Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for all medical-surgical patients within 8 hours of admission
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Accurately document all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record
• Initiate discharge planning and provide patient education from the time of admission
• Promote patient safety and employee safety by adhering to hospital safety policies and procedures
• Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees
• Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in team building activities and contribute to a positive healthcare work environment
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing nursing education
