PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

  • Location: Webster, TX 77598 (Greater Houston area)

  • Unit Size: 24 beds

  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7P-7A), rotating weekends

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent IMCU, PCU, or step-down nursing experience
  • Proficient in cardiac monitoring and interventions
  • Experience with chest tubes, BiPAP, tracheostomy care
  • Skilled in managing and titrating critical drips (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin)
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and communication skills
  • Preferred: Cardiovascular nursing experience
  • EMR experience: Meditech

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the PCU/CV IMU
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, respond to changes, and perform clinical interventions
  • Manage and titrate cardiac drips and infusions for acute and post-cardiac procedure patients
  • Provide care for patients post-cardiac procedures (TAVR, Watchman, heart catheterization, PCI, CABG, pacemakers, ablations)
  • Assist with procedures such as cardioversion and emergency interventions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Float to MedSurg or IMCU units as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Meditech EMR
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
