Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Dothan, Alabama (Zip: 36301) – Alabama nursing jobs
• Facility: 400-bed hospital, Level II trauma center
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Unit (4 East)
• Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: December 1, 2025
• End Date: March 2, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (traveler preference)
• Unit Size: 42 beds, nurse-to-patient ratios 1:6/1:7
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1470 - $1570

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Alabama RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience (large facility experience preferred)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience with port access, chemotherapy administration, monitoring chemotherapy, and telemetry preferred
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions for COVID-19 only)
• Must comply with 90-mile radius rule

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy medical/surgical unit
• Monitor patient status, administer medications, and perform comprehensive assessments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary
• Maintain accurate documentation and electronic charting
• Participate in self-scheduling and provide weekend coverage as needed
• Support patients through chemotherapy administration and telemetry monitoring
