Job Description
Join Raytheon's Materials Engineering Department as a Principal Propellant Chemist and utilize your expertise in chemical analysis to support critical defense projects. Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to assess propellant properties and conduct laboratory testing, contributing to the development of safer and more secure technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Support Programs in assessing supplier data from energetic suppliers
Assess materials based on conformance to specifications
Conduct hands-on testing of materials using laboratory techniques
Conduct standard chemical analysis laboratory testing
Method and test plan development
Lead characterization and design projects
Document and communicate results and findings
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or 12+ years of experience in absence of a degree
Experience in using propellant mixers and standard laboratory equipment
Experience in Instrumental Analysis techniques
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Equivalent military occupational specialty (MOS) experience
Demonstrated ability to apply analytical chemistry principles
ACS certified Chemistry degree with strong analytical/instrumentation skills
Understanding of Polymer Chemistry
Understanding of Systems Engineering
Knowledge of data analysis and various computational techniques
