The Senior Director of Behavior will oversee the behavioral care and pathway planning for animals at ARC and CARE, ensuring their health and welfare. This role involves leading a team of behavior experts and collaborating on research projects aimed at improving animal behavior and welfare, making a significant impact on the lives of animals in need.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure high quality, low stress care for animals
Develop and oversee behavioral diagnosis and treatment plans
Manage and coach a team of behavior experts
Lead research projects related to animal behavior
Collaborate with various departments to enhance animal welfare
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Master’s or PhD degree in animal behavior or related discipline (for non-veterinary candidates)
DVM degree from AVMA accredited veterinary school with NY State veterinary license (for veterinary candidates)
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Comfortable with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
