Job Description
Join Avera Surgical Center as a Surgical Technologist and play a crucial role in assisting surgeons and nursing staff during outpatient procedures. Be part of a compassionate team dedicated to moving health forward for patients.
Key Responsibilities
Prepares the Operating Room for surgical procedures.
Assists the surgeon as the first or second scrub person during surgical procedures.
Maintains a sterile field at all times in the procedure area.
Assists the circulating nurse to account for all instruments, needles, and sponges.
Achieves and maintains working knowledge of all OR machinery and equipment.
Receives and verifies correct implants for all surgical procedures.
Assists with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff and students.
Assists in transporting of patients to the O.R. when necessary.
Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization according to Infection Control guidelines.
Operates sterilization equipment and ensures safety.
Required Qualifications
Technical Certificate Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Upon Hire
1-3 years Previous experience as a Surgical Technician
