Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will guide a dedicated team providing high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. This role combines leadership with hands-on veterinary practice, ensuring the best care for pets while making a significant impact in animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and other medical protocols
Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and coaching
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality spay/neuter procedures
Provide preventive and basic care to patients in underserved areas
Triage and refer cases outside of Community Medicine parameters
Participate in monthly CM Veterinary Medicine Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
