Job Description
Join Backus Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Medical ICU, where you will be a vital part of a dedicated care team. You'll provide essential overnight care for critically ill patients while collaborating with physicians and nursing staff, ensuring high-quality treatment and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Care for patients in the Medical ICU (MICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Perform bedside rounds and ensure appropriate patient care
Review and interpret lab and imaging studies
Perform ICU procedures including central lines and arterial lines
Collaborate with hospital staff for patient admissions and transfers
Respond to Rapid Response and CardioPulmonary Response codes
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Connecticut
Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Board Certification APRN
Strong clinical acumen and communication skills with other providers, ancillary staff, patients and families
Ability to adapt quickly and embrace a culture of change
Preferred Qualifications
Preferably one year of experience in inpatient or ICU medicine, although new graduates may be considered
