Position: RN – Cardiac Stepdown / CVSD
Shift: 3x12s, Days (06:45–18:45)
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Unit Details - Beds: 24
- Ratios: 1:4 (days), 1:4–5 (nights)
- Support Staff: Monitor techs (RNs not required to read strips), nurse aides (1:8 days, 1:12 nights), RT for BiPAP, CPAP, vents (home vent exp. not required)
- Charge Nurse: Days – no patients; Nights – 1–2 patients; ARR nurse for rapid response
- Charting: Epic
Patient Population - Pre/post cardiac procedures (femoral/radial, heart cath, cardioversions)
- Cardiothoracic (post-thoracotomy, CABG 24 hrs out, stents, PCI, vascular procedures, NSTEMI)
- Trachs (home vented, BiPAP, CPAP), chest tubes
- Heavy cardiac & surgical acuity
Required Experience - Strong stepdown/cardiac background
- Pre/post heart patients: stents, pacemakers, ICDs, CABG, vascular cases
- Drip titration: cardizem, amio, dopamine, nitro, dobutamine, integrilin (dobutamine/dopamine = set rate, others titratable)
Certifications - Required: BLS, ACLS
- Preferred: NIHSS
Scheduling - Shifts: 12-hr days (06:45–18:45)
- Weekends: Every other or 4 per month (flexible)
Holidays: Rotating (every other major holiday – NYE, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, Labor Day)
