Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced NICU Charge RN for a Level III/IV NICU. This role requires strong clinical leadership and resuscitation skills, as well as the ability to rotate between shifts based on unit needs.

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Must have 2+ years of NICU experience (Level III or IV required)
  • Charge RN and delivery/resuscitation experience required
  • Epic charting required
  • Must have a vehicle for this assignment

💡 All hours worked in the Charge role will be paid at the applicable Charge pay bump rate.

Scheduling & Coverage
  • Float Requirement: Yes – to maternity, MBU (helping hands), or other units based on skills
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes – standby when not needed on unit (30-min response if called)
  • Weekends: Variable, rotating (every 3rd weekend for Days; 4 shifts/28-day period for Nights)
  • Block Scheduling: Not available
  • Pre-approved Time Off: 1 request allowed

Floating & Incentives

Travelers may float across Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent facilities.

  • If floating to Seaside (when booked elsewhere):
    • +$5/hr incentive for all Seaside hours
    • IRS mileage reimbursement
    • Hotel provided if working consecutive shifts
    • Facility provides notice when possible

Key Clinical Skills

Lines & IV Therapy

  • IV therapy, arterial line management
  • UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) / UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter)
  • Central/Implanted line care

Respiratory

  • Bubble CPAP
  • Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)

Cardiovascular

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation/management

Gastrointestinal

  • Tube placement/management (oral, NG, NJ)
  • Bottle, breast, gavage feedings

Medications

  • Emergency meds, steroids, surfactants, IV vasopressors

Neurologic

  • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

Equipment

  • Alaris pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, HFOV, Phillips monitoring
