Job Summary

A healthcare facility in Bangor, ME, is seeking experienced Scrub Techs (surgical technologists) to join the surgical services team on a 13-week contract. Surgical Techs will work under the direct supervision of surgeons and surgical staff to facilitate safe, effective surgical procedures, focusing on orthopedic cases including total joints and sports medicine .

You will play a critical role in ensuring the operating room is properly prepared, sterile techniques are maintained, and surgical instruments are correctly handled and accounted for throughout procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by checking and arranging necessary supplies and equipment
  • Scrub, gown, and glove self, surgeons, and assistants
  • Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with circulator nurse before and after surgeries
  • Assist in sterile draping of patients and operative fields
  • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants during procedures
  • Maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure
  • Assist with terminal cleaning of the operating room and prepping for subsequent cases
  • Prepare instruments for sterilization and ensure proper handling
  • Support onboarding and training of new scrub techs and students

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma from an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • NBSTSA Certification (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Scrub Tech
  • Orthopedic experience required , including total joints and sports medicine
  • Must be able to work day shift with flexibility for holiday coverage
  • Prior experience using EPIC EMR preferred
  • Facility Size: 50–149 beds

Contract Details

  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Overtime: Begins after 40 hours/week
  • Holiday Coverage Required.
  • Local travelers (within 50 miles) subject to reduced rate
