The Senior Director of Behavior will oversee the behavioral care of animals at the Animal Recovery Center and Canine Annex for Recovery and Enrichment, ensuring their medical and behavioral welfare. This role involves leading a team of experts, collaborating on research projects, and maintaining high standards of care for animals rescued from cruelty and neglect.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high quality individualized care for patients
Lead and mentor a team of behavior experts
Develop and oversee behavioral diagnosis and treatment plans
Collaborate on research projects to advance ASPCA’s mission
Maintain high quality behavioral records and documentation
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Master’s or PhD in animal Behavior or related discipline or DVM degree
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Comfortable with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Ability to work additional hours and weekends
