ER RN Job Details – Yakima, WA

• Location: Yakima, WA 98902 – Located in the heart of Washington's wine country, surrounded by mountains and a thriving arts scene

• Healthcare Setting: Emergency Department (Level III Trauma Center)
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• End Date: March 14, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days (varied start times: 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 10a-10p, 11a-11p)
• Hours per Week: 48 guaranteed
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; 1-2 holidays per contract
• Scrub Color: Any (no logos)
• Parking: Free on-site parking

Emergency Room RN Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience in a large-volume, high-acuity hospital
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Washington state or compact RN license
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC
• Strong clinical skills in emergency nursing, critical care, and pediatric care
• Proficient in chest tubes, arterial lines, blood administration, Bipap/ventilators, splinting, and medication drips
• Experience with barcode scanning medication administration
• Demonstrated triage experience and ability to pass hospital triage test
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR strongly preferred
• Prior travel nurse experience preferred (first-time travelers not accepted)

ER RN Responsibilities

• Deliver emergency nursing care to patients of all ages, including trauma, cardiac, stroke, behavioral health, and substance use cases
• Manage patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity in a 34-bed Emergency Department (plus 12 hallway beds and 13-bed fast track zone)
• Perform advanced emergency procedures: assist with chest tubes, arterial lines, trauma and code cases, and splinting
• Administer and manage medication drips and blood products
• Utilize barcode scanning technology for safe medication administration
• Conduct triage and demonstrate expertise in Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including ED techs, medical assistants, charge nurses, hospitalists, and advanced practice providers
• Draw labs and initiate IVs as needed, especially during night shifts
• Participate in orientation and ongoing professional development opportunities
