Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead and mentor a dedicated team, ensuring top-notch care for pets in underserved communities. This role not only impacts animal welfare but also fosters a culture of teamwork and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
  • Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and medical protocols
  • Support a positive work culture through regular 1:1s and feedback
  • Perform pre-surgery examinations and high-quality surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
  • Triage and refer cases outside Community Medicine parameters
  • Schedule staff veterinarians and per diems for optimal coverage

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Excellent work attendance record
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire

  • Previous people management experience
