General Manager (Utilities)
Austin, MN | Onsite | $150,000 – $190,000
A municipally owned utility provider serving the community for over 100 years is seeking a visionary General Manager to lead operations across electric, water, and gas services. This is a high-impact opportunity to guide strategic planning, manage operational excellence, and foster meaningful community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Define and implement long-term goals and strategies
Champion innovation and sustainability across utility services
Operational Oversight
Direct day-to-day operations across all utilities
Monitor regulatory compliance and risk management initiatives
Financial Management
Lead budgeting and financial planning
Ensure fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Represent the organization in the community and with industry groups
Build trust through transparent and responsive leadership
Personnel Management
Lead, develop, and inspire a cross-functional team
Oversee recruitment, performance management, and employee engagement
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
10+ years of progressive leadership experience (utilities preferred)
Experience managing cross-departmental teams and strategic initiatives
Proficiency in budgeting, finance, and technology integration (including cybersecurity)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills
Ability to balance long-term planning with daily operational needs
Willingness to participate in community events and industry organizations (5–10% travel)
