Job Description
Join Sanford Health as a Child Life Specialist, where you will create and implement developmentally appropriate activities for pediatric patients and their families. Advocate for children's needs, collaborate with healthcare teams, and promote family-centered care in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate and implement play activities and expressive arts for pediatric patients
Serve as the child's advocate in collaboration with the healthcare team
Utilize knowledge of child development and family systems to establish therapeutic interventions
Promote family-centered care and strengthen coping skills
Provide ongoing assessment of interventions
Oversee utilization of volunteers in the Child Life department
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, or related field
Completion of Child Life internship
Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or must be obtained within one year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two years experience working with various age groups of children
Experience working with pediatric population in a therapeutic setting
