Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Martinsburg, WV 25401 (Eastern Panhandle – West Virginia nursing jobs)
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital – Med/Surg Unit, 5th Floor
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/14/2025 – End: 2/13/2026)
• Shift: Night Shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts/week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1820-$1950
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend & holidays as needed
• Unit Size: 35 beds (flex up to 42)
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (West Virginia or compact state; licensure assistance available)
• Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
• Basic arrhythmia recognition skills
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (travel nurse requirement)
• Professional appearance: Navy blue scrubs, natural hair color, tattoos covered if excessive/distasteful

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to diverse Med/Surg patient populations
• Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses including cardiac, renal, oncology, stroke, TBI, wounds, and altered mental status
• Administer medications and IV therapies (Heparin, Protonix drips; no titrating or cardiac gtts)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team: hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, and patient care techs
• Document patient care in Epic EMR
• Float to other Med/Surg units as needed (excluding ED and Behavioral Health)
• Participate in orientation (1-2 shifts with preceptor) and ongoing professional development
• Maintain a positive, patient-centered approach and uphold unit standards
