Job Description
As a Licensed Psychiatric Technician at Kaiser, you will provide essential nursing care and collaborate with a Registered Nurse in an acute mental health setting. Your role includes administering treatments, maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients, and documenting care, all while fostering a supportive environment for recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients
Administer medication and treatments to patients
Perform vital signs and follow escalation pathways
Attend and facilitate classes/workshops as needed
Complete appropriate documentation and conduct chart reviews
Implement patient treatment plans in coordination with the treatment team
Keep clinicians informed of patient behavior and changes
Act as a role model and maintain a positive attitude
Ensure supplies and medications for patient care are available
Promote and assist patients in developing self-help skills
Required Qualifications
Minimum six (6) months experience in an acute mental health treatment setting
Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program
Current Psychiatric Technician License (California)
Basic Life Support certification
Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing mental health services in California
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations
Demonstrated understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment
