Job Description
Join Christian Living Communities as a Health Information Specialist, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate resident health records in a compassionate and compliant environment. Your expertise will support excellent resident care and regulatory readiness, making a meaningful impact in skilled nursing.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and maintain resident-centered medical records
Prepare and audit documentation for new admissions and clinical transitions
Monitor physician certifications and recertifications for skilled stays
Safeguard protected health information and manage secure access to medical records
Conduct audits to ensure compliance with CMS and state LTC regulations
Train staff on documentation practices and privacy standards
Collaborate with nursing, MDS, therapy, and administrative teams
Manage retention, storage, and destruction of health records
Utilize electronic health record systems
Support survey readiness and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
1 year of experience in long-term care health information management
Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented and organized
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically PointClickCare
