Job Description

Join WellMed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and be an integral part of a team dedicated to improving healthcare in rural communities. You'll have the support of a global organization while making a meaningful impact on patients' lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • See patients in different clinics as well as home, telemedicine, and mobile visits
  • 50-75% travel with overnight stays in rural locations
  • Practice in collaboration with contracted and affiliated WellMed physicians and clinic staff
  • Provide comprehensive, coordinated care to a mostly Medicare-aged population
  • Educate providers on coding, risk adjustment metrics, and quality protocols
  • Assure safe transitions of care from inpatient to home
  • Interview patients to ensure proper documentation and screenings

Required Qualifications

  • Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
  • Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
  • 1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with primary care and chronic condition codes
  • A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
