Job Description
Join Wake County Public School System as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, where you'll empower students with visual impairments to navigate their environments safely and independently. Collaborate with educators and families to create inclusive learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Provide itinerant orientation and mobility services for students with visual impairments
Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members
Perform assessments to determine students' orientation and mobility needs
Develop appropriate Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals
Maintain accurate records and compile reports on student progress
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired (VI)
Three years experience supporting teachers and students with visual impairments
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Special Education
Certification from Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)
Experience teaching students with visual impairments in orientation and mobility
