Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit (CV-IMCU) . The RN will provide specialized nursing care for adult and geriatric patients requiring cardiovascular intermediate and acute monitoring following surgical treatment of cardiac, vascular, or thoracic conditions.
The CV-IMCU cares for patients recovering from or preparing for surgery involving the organs of the thoracic cavity—such as the heart, lungs, and great vessels—as well as patients requiring cardiac monitoring or intermediate care services as bed availability allows.

The CV-IMCU cares for patients recovering from or preparing for surgery involving the organs of the thoracic cavity—such as the heart, lungs, and great vessels—as well as patients requiring cardiac monitoring or intermediate care services as bed availability allows. Responsibilities: Deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to patients requiring cardiovascular monitoring and intermediate-level care. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition. Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and hospital protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes. Document all aspects of patient care accurately within the electronic medical record (EPIC preferred). Educate patients and families regarding procedures, post-operative care, and discharge planning. Float to other stepdown or Med/Surg units as needed based on facility requirements. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or IMCU experience required. Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS – AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS – AHA) Onsite EKG Exam (must pass prior to or upon orientation) First-time travelers accepted. Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend. Unit Details: Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients requiring cardiovascular intermediate or acute monitoring for cardiac, vascular, or thoracic surgical treatment. Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4 Common Equipment/Systems: EPIC (EHR), Pyxis, cardiac monitoring systems.
