Responsibilities - Utilize the Information System to receive samples, order tests, answer questions from nurses and physicians, document quality control activities and produce reports required to perform job tasks.
Confirms accuracy of patient sample identification prior to performing processes; evaluates specimen quality and identifies when unacceptable. Documents information concerning quality of specimen.
Prepares sections of human tissue for immediate examination, using rapid tissue processing and frozen section technique to freeze, cut, mount and stain tissue specimens received from surgery.
Operates tissue processing equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax, tissue specimens to be preserved for study by Pathologist.
Requirements -
1 year of experience
Must be qualified to perform high complexity testing according to CLIA 493.1489 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications.
ASCP certification
