Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Oklahoma City, OK 73112 (Oklahoma nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) Unit
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Shift: 12-Hour Nights
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Openings: 2 Med/Surg RN positions

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oklahoma or compact state)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift
• Minimum two (2) years of recent bedside clinical experience in a Med/Surg or acute care setting
• Strong assessment, planning, and clinical documentation skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient care abilities

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
• Provide direct patient care and participate in rehabilitation programs using the nursing process
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the time of admission
• Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team to ensure continuity and patient safety
• Supervise and mentor Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff or orientees
• Promote patient and employee safety by following hospital policies and clinical safety procedures
• Foster positive teamwork and maintain a supportive work environment within the Med/Surg unit
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing nursing education
