Job Description

Join Raytheon as a Mechanical Analysis Section Leader in Tucson, AZ, where you'll lead a talented engineering team, ensuring high-quality technical output throughout the product life cycle. Drive innovation in materials and process engineering while mentoring the next generation of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform direct line management activities and provide leadership for approximately 15-20 engineers
  • Provide technical development of people, mentoring, training, performance management, and resource allocation
  • Provide oversight to ensure the accuracy of technical output of assignments based on data and analyses
  • Team with the Department Leader in the execution of Materials and Process Engineering
  • Coordinate program and department staffing needs, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting recruitment and retention efforts
  • Perform individual contributor workload in the leader’s subject matter discipline
  • Provide evaluation and resolution to technical, operational, and supplier problems related to materials and processes
  • Provide support and technical oversight to programs’ product life cycle

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with materials and process design, development, and/or production support for military programs
  • Experience in working on a cross-functional team to meet program milestones and commitments
  • Experience in testing methods for generation of physical properties of materials
  • Experience with analysis and requirements of PWB/CCA interconnects
  • Experience in failure analysis of mechanical assemblies
  • Experience in dimensional inspection/measurement techniques, tribology and paint processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten years of experience in materials problem solving, materials design selection and reviews
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and complete multi-disciplined scientific based projects
  • Direct experience utilizing all material types to support production and development in the aerospace industry
  • Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of data analysis, statistics, and various computational techniques
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal scientific communication skills
  • Ability to write concise technical reports summarizing analyses
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Creo and/or Python
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basis of Estimate (BOE) Certification
