Advanced Practice Provider – St. Vincent’s Cardiac Surgery (Cardiovascular ICU/Stepdown) Hartford HealthCare – Heart & Vascular Institute

Hartford HealthCare’s nationally recognized Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Department of Cardiac Surgery.  This award-winning program is celebrated for its excellence in Cardiac Surgery, innovative care, and superior patient outcomes.  

About the Opportunity:

Join our rapidly growing Cardiac Surgery Team and become a vital member of the Cardiac Surgery Team. The APP will deliver expert, compassionate care to patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU and step-down unit.  

Responsibilities include:

·      Inpatient pre-operative consultation and management.

·      Post-operative care management-from admission to ICU through discharge.

·      Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of teamwork and communication to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

·      Managing multiple patients with varied critical illness- performing comprehensive physical assessments, interpretation of diagnostic results hemodynamic/ventilator management.

·      Performing invasive procedures such as central venous and arterial line placement, IABP removal, chest tube placement, basic suturing

·      Providing patient and family education, ensuring a clear understanding of the surgical process and post operative recovery. 

Schedule:

·       Full time, salaried position. Three-13-hour shifts per week with day/night rotation. Requires rotation on weekends and holidays.

·      Potential for permanent night schedule for interested candidates.

·      This position is eligible for shift, weekend and holiday differentials.

·      Opportunities for over-standard pay.

Qualifications


·      Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (APRN)

·      1+ year experience in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery preferred but not required.

·      Eligible for licensure in the State of Connecticut.

·      Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.

·      A commitment to excellence in intraoperative care and patient outcomes.
