Key Responsibilities
Deliver speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing interventions
Evaluate, plan, and implement treatment programs
Coordinate programs for patient function improvement
Evaluate effectiveness of interventions and progress patients
Provide caretaker education for therapy intervention carryover
Establish discharge criteria and anticipate discharge needs
Complete department/patient documentation
Supervise aides where appropriate
Assist with orientation of new department staff or students
Communicate patient information to healthcare team
Required Qualifications
Arts or Science degree from an accredited curriculum
Completion of a nine-month full time Clinical Fellowship Year
Certification of Clinical Competence from ASHA
CPR Certification required or willing to obtain within six months
Ability to communicate well personally and professionally
Responsibility, initiative, and honesty
Extensive mobility for patient handling
Fine motor coordination and visual/perceptual skills
Preferred Qualifications
One to two years of experience with geriatrics preferred
Qualified new graduates will be considered
Strong desire to work with the elderly and rehabilitation populations
