Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing interventions
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement treatment programs
  • Coordinate programs for patient function improvement
  • Evaluate effectiveness of interventions and progress patients
  • Provide caretaker education for therapy intervention carryover
  • Establish discharge criteria and anticipate discharge needs
  • Complete department/patient documentation
  • Supervise aides where appropriate
  • Assist with orientation of new department staff or students
  • Communicate patient information to healthcare team

Required Qualifications

  • Arts or Science degree from an accredited curriculum
  • Completion of a nine-month full time Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Certification of Clinical Competence from ASHA
  • CPR Certification required or willing to obtain within six months
  • Ability to communicate well personally and professionally
  • Responsibility, initiative, and honesty
  • Extensive mobility for patient handling
  • Fine motor coordination and visual/perceptual skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience with geriatrics preferred
  • Qualified new graduates will be considered
  • Strong desire to work with the elderly and rehabilitation populations
