Job Description
Join Optum as a Senior Patient Access Specialist, where you'll be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in enhancing their healthcare experience. In this full-time position, you'll manage daily activities, verify insurance eligibility, and contribute to process improvements while enjoying a culture of inclusion and career development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits
Identifies outstanding balances from patient’s previous visits
Trains staff on computer systems and processes
Proactively identifies and leads process improvement opportunities
Works on Special Projects as needed
Performs duties of a Patient Access Representative
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of admission and registration requirements
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
2+ years of customer service experience
1+ years of electronic health record experience
Ability to work Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
