Job Description

Join Optum as a Senior Patient Access Specialist, where you'll be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in enhancing their healthcare experience. In this full-time position, you'll manage daily activities, verify insurance eligibility, and contribute to process improvements while enjoying a culture of inclusion and career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Identifies outstanding balances from patient’s previous visits
  • Trains staff on computer systems and processes
  • Proactively identifies and leads process improvement opportunities
  • Works on Special Projects as needed
  • Performs duties of a Patient Access Representative
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of admission and registration requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of customer service experience
  • 1+ years of electronic health record experience
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department
  • Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
