Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

  • Location: Bismarck, ND 58501 (North Dakota travel nursing jobs)
  • Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/27/2025 – End: 1/26/2026)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day/Night), every other weekend and holiday
  • Unit Size: 34 beds (28 cardiac, 6 IMC)
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4, 1:5, or 1:3 for IMC patients
  • Dress Code: Navy Blue Scrubs
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,140 - $2,290

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiology or cardiac stepdown RN experience in an acute care setting
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota or compact state
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
  • Proficiency in central line care, chest tubes, foley and trach care, heparin and insulin drips, angiograms, post-pacemaker and post-TAVR care
  • Experience with EPIC charting, Omnicell, Alaris IV pumps, and central monitoring systems

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage cardiac stepdown and IMC patients with diagnoses such as CHF, pacemaker placements, PCIs, TAVRs, heart catheterizations, and arrhythmias
  • Administer and titrate medications including low-dose pressors, insulin, amiodarone, and heparin drips
  • Perform procedures such as chest tube insertions, foley catheter insertions, and trach care
  • Accurately maintain and document provider orders
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and utilize advanced clinical equipment
  • Participate in unit-specific training and orientation, with support from a dedicated charge nurse during day shifts
