Job Description: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Columbus, OH
Contract Type: Travel Nursing Contract (13 weeks)
Shift: Night or Day - 3x 12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30 or 07:30–19:00)
Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $2,161.00 Per Week
On W2(Taxable): $684.00 Per Week
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,477.00 Per Week
Summary: Registered Nurse providing high-acuity progressive care to adult and adolescent patients. This 36-bed unit specializes in oncology, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology care, with a strong focus on infection prevention and patient safety. Nurses with PCU, ICU, or oncology experience thrive in this fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to high-acuity PCU patients with oncology and telemetry needs.
Manage complex patient care, including central and peripheral lines, blood product administration, and chemotherapy monitoring (preferred).
Utilize advanced skills such as interpreting dysrhythmias, managing cardiac drips, arterial line care, and respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC).
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services.
Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols and patient fall precautions.
Float to other PCU or MedSurg Oncology units as needed.
Document care accurately using Epic charting system.
Participate actively in rapid response teams and emergency interventions.
Required Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse license (state or compact license valid in Ohio)
Minimum 2 years nursing experience; oncology experience preferred but not required
High acuity PCU or telemetry nursing experience required
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required at hire
Proficiency in Epic electronic health records system
Ability to work flexible shifts and float within designated units
