Facility & Unit Details:
- Department: Med/Tele Swing Unit
- Preferred Experience: Emergency Department (ED) preferred but not required
- Unit Beds: 10
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:3–4
- Patient Population:
- Adults and geriatrics (occasional pediatrics)
- Majority are swing bed patients needing IV antibiotics, therapy, or wound care
- Medical diagnoses include diabetes, pancreatitis, pneumonia, etc.
- Charge Nurse: Present on each shift; may take assignments
- CNA/Tech Support: Yes, ratio 1:8; duties not specified
- Orientation: 2 days unit/department-specific
- Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided)
Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Scheduling & Requirements:
- Scheduling Type: Self-scheduling (manager approval required)
- Weekend Requirement: At least every 3rd weekend, sometimes every other
- Holiday Requirement: Rotation based on unit needs
- Floating: May float to ED as backup support during high volumes
- Onboarding Exam:
- RN Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation (open book)
- Must score 90% or above to pass, or contract will be terminated
Radius & Compliance Rules:
- Radius Rule: Must live outside a 50-mile radius
- NOT eligible if currently employed (FT, PT, or PRN) with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity Health
- Driver’s License: Required at submission to verify distance
- RTO Policy:
- Maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract (must be declared upfront)
- No additional RTO approved after submission
- Cancellation Policy:
- Up to 4 shifts may be canceled during a 13-week assignment
- Up to 3 for shorter assignments
