Job Summary
Under general supervision, the CT Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. This role may also include general diagnostic radiology examinations. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, and compliance with hospital protocols while supporting radiologists and clinical teams.
Essential Functions
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for imaging
- Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations, gathering additional patient history as needed
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain stock of supplies
- Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform CT scans
- Operate equipment manually to obtain diagnostic information
- Administer intravenous contrast media using power injectors; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if necessary
- Assist radiologists with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies
- Apply radiation protection principles (shielding, ALARA techniques, appropriate equipment settings)
- Ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS and resolve exceptions
- Complete study indexing in RIS, including study begin, study end, and completion
- Confirm clinical protocols with radiologists as necessary
- Document all procedures in medical records and radiology systems to support clinical and billing functions
- Demonstrate team member standards of excellence including communication, responsiveness, innovation, and respect for diversity
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of CT experience
- Experience with GE and Philips equipment
- Strong customer service skills, including communication, ownership, motivation, sensitivity, excellence, teamwork, and respect
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility, initiative, and openness to new learning experiences
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Work may occur in hospital units or ambulatory mobile units
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients
- Occasional lifting/moving of equipment or patients exceeding 10 lbs

- Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; must maintain required hours of continuing medical education
