Job Description
Join the ASPCA as the Senior Director of Behavior, where you'll lead the behavioral care for animals in need, ensuring their health and welfare while driving innovative research projects. Collaborate with a dedicated team to provide high-quality, compassionate care and foster a culture of learning and improvement in animal behavior practices.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Develop and implement individualized care and treatment plans
Manage a team of behavior experts and ensure high-quality care
Lead and facilitate research projects related to animal behavior
Foster strong relationships with other departments and teams
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Master’s or PhD degree in animal Behavior or related discipline or DVM degree from AVMA accredited veterinary school
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
