Job Description:

Join the Observation Unit providing care for patients with anticipated short stays (up to two midnights). This unit focuses on high-quality, efficient care without premature discharge or admission. Patients are stable, boarded from the ED or ICC, and unlikely to require an upgrade in care.

Special Procedures / Unit Details:

• Ratio: 1:4 with charge RN in assignment
• Other staff: RNs, PCAs, UCAs
• Occasional float to James ED to assist with Med/Surg tele patients
• Orientation provided (72 hours)
• Use of Alaris pumps, EPIC documentation, telemetry monitoring

Requirements:

Certifications Required:

• BLS (AHA)

Certifications Preferred:

• ACLS
• OCN

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• Accepts first-time travelers

Charting System: Epic

Education:

• ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

Reference Requirements:

• 2 professional references required
• At least 1 from a manager/director or formal supervisor
• Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility
• Current employees ineligible for travel assignment
