Job Description
This position is responsible for obtaining diagnostic images for 2 or greater modalities. Procedures for patients of all ages, under the supervision of qualified physicians for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Technologists are required to operate scanners, monitor patient safety and comfort, and views images of area being scanned to ensure quality of pictures. - Assess patients appropriately for the procedures ordered prior to, during, and after treatment according to Imaging Services/Departmental Guidelines - Prepare patients, explain exams, collect relevant information for completion of procedures, and perform exams for 2 or greater modalities following defined protocols. - Completes worksheets containing pertinent patient information following exam prior to forwarding to radiologist. - Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. - The caregiver must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. - Places required information in and evaluates images on the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for technical quality. - Maintaining equipment. - Assisting Radiologists with procedures and guided biopsies dependent on modality. - Re-stock rooms with supplies as needed. MRI Specific: Conducts screening interviews of patients to identify contra-indications, such as ferrous objects, pregnancy, prosthetic heart valves, cardiac pacemakers, or tattoos. Other Functions: - Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Any combination of the following active or training - Ultrasound: Required Education: Associate degree or completed Certification Program in Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiology upon hire. - Required Certifications and Licensures: Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). - MRI: Certified as a Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). MR Registered within 2 years of hire. - Diagnostic: Completed two- (2) year degree program in Radiologic Technology Registry eligible or certification as a Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must be certified within the first thirty (30) days of hire. - Mammography: Mammography Quality Standard Act regulations of completion of 40 hours of documented training specific to mammography within 6 months of hire. Certification in mammography within 18 months of hire required. - PET: Graduate of AMA approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT-N or CNMT licensed. - Nuclear Medicine: Satisfactory completion of a formal education program accredited by A.R.R.T. or C.N.M.T. as recognized by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification board. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology or registered by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). - CT: Certified as a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - All modalities: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross All modalities: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross - State licensure may be required depending on the practicing site.
