Location: Near Concord, NC
Shift Options:

1) 12-Hour Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours/week

2) 12-Hour Days, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 36 hours/week

We are seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) to join a collaborative and patient-focused team near Concord, NC. This role offers the opportunity to work in a teaching hospital recognized for excellence in trauma, stroke, cardiac, and bariatric care.

Unit Details

• 20-bed unit (includes 3 progressive beds)
• Experience Required: Minimum 18 months PCU
• First-Time Travelers: Not preferred, but considered

Patient Population

• HPB Patients: Whipples, liver resections, distal pancreas/spleen, pancreatitis
• Women’s Surgery: Hysterectomies, mastectomies
• Plastic Surgery: DIEP flap breast reconstruction, panniculectomy

Ratios

• RN: 1:4–6 (may surge to 1:7–8)
• CNA: 1:10

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Key Skills

• Drain care & central line management
• G/J tube care
• Heparin & cardiac drip management
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• NGT placement & management
• Post-surgical drain care

Department Support

• CNAs trained in blood draws, Foley care, and patient support
• Charge nurse available (may or may not carry a patient load)
• IV/VAT team consults available
• Resource nurse/mentors on night shift
• Telemetry monitoring support

Technology

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Omnicell med dispensing
• Phillips monitors
• Unit equipment: Bladder scanner, EKG machine, transport monitors, bedside telemetry monitors

Floating

• Must be open to floating within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, CMC Main, Mercy, LCH Peds as needed)
• Paid for time spent traveling between facilities mid-shift

Scheduling & Orientation

• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: 75% of holidays
• Orientation: NEO + 2 days departmental
• Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks
• Scrub color: Navy (provided by RN)
• Parking: Free
