JOB FUNCTION: The Lead Prevention Specialist will implement and guide community and school-based NJ4S programming to ensure that youth and families have access to linkages and referrals for resources and supportive services.
Essential Functions
Oversee NJ4S staff at Gateway Wellness Center
Oversee program related activities
Ensure that youth and families have access to prevention and recovery services to enhance wellness and resilience
Provide Functional and strength-based training and assessments to NJ4S program staff
Provide psycho education for families, community, staff and support systems
Track program database and reports
Coordinate mental health related trainings, workshops, and community activities
Outreach to community members and school networks for promotion and partnership opportunities
Provide staff training and opportunities for professional development
Collaborate with consultants, school districts, and community service providers to facilitate training, workshops, webinars, assemblies
Collaborate closely with school administrators, counselors, and support personnel as required in order to effectively deliver required supports to students and their families
Attentive and responsive to participants needs and wants in a helpful, supportive, timely manner
Works collaboratively with program staff and community resources to provide viable services
Assist with the planning and implementation of program activities
Attend program meetings and trainings
Play an active role in meetings and trainings designed to enhance program operations
Provides culturally competent service delivery
Effectively engages participants to continually access needs
Provides appropriate intervention strategies, as needed, and adjusts services accordingly
Assist in programmatic data collection, reporting, continuous quality improvement processes and evaluation of services
Attend community meeting
Assist with outreach efforts
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Human Services of other related field
Minimum of one-year experience working with youth and families
Computer literate and proficient in using applicable software
Experience implementing evidence-based treatment and prevention programs is strongly preferred
Experience working with and empowering youth and marginalized communities by conducting prevention education
