The Senior Director of Behavior at the ARC and CARE will lead comprehensive behavioral care and research initiatives for animals in need, ensuring their health and welfare while working in collaboration with a dedicated team. This role is vital in shaping high-quality, integrated care for animals rescued from cruelty and neglect.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high quality, low stress patient and population care
Manage and coach a team of behavior experts
Lead research projects related to animal behavior and cruelty prevention
Foster strong relationships with medical and behavior team leaders
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Effective communication with all levels of staff
Experience working with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certification within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certification or willingness to obtain
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing and overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
