Job Description

Join Optum as an Associate Director of Healthcare Economics, where you'll leverage your expertise to improve healthcare outcomes through data-driven insights and strategic initiatives. Work remotely while leading projects that enhance cost savings and influence industry practices in the labs and genetics sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop cost savings initiatives for assigned clients
  • Conduct analytical and investigative work for concept development
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to support payment integrity initiatives
  • Influence senior leadership on new ideas and approaches
  • Recommend changes to product development based on market research
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for medical claims and cost management
  • Lead projects from conceptualization to completion

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience auditing, billing, and/or coding claims within the Molecular/Genetic area
  • 4+ years of experience in the health care industry (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) with exposure to Payment Integrity or Revenue Integrity
  • 3+ years of experience in collaborative and consultative roles
  • 2+ years of experience performing research and analysis of claims data
  • 2+ years of experience presenting proposals to stakeholders
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of CMS rules and regulations and billing codes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Advanced degree in health care or medical field
  • Coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA
  • 3+ years of experience in claims adjudication or revenue cycle management
  • 2+ years of experience in a matrixed and adaptive environment
  • Experience working in a Laboratory and/or Genetics setting
  • Proficiency with SQL, SAS, or other statistical programs
  • Solid computer skills: Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Tableau
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
