Title: Lead Special Procedures Technologist 

Duration: 3-month contract to hire 

Location: 23900 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX 77494

Schedule: M-F, 3p-11p or 11p-7a

Compensation: $44-60/hr (depending upon years of experience) 

 

Requirements:

  • 5 + years of experience within special procedures/interventional radiology (IR)
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support (BLS)
  • Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT)
  • Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Team oriented and passionate about their work
  • Strong knowledge of the IR space

 

Plusses: 

  • Experience with EPIC
  • Management experience
  • Regular radiology experience

 

Day to day:

 A healthcare provider in Katy, TX is looking for a special procedures tech. Who will perform special and invasive radiology procedures, ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols. They will prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, administer contrast when necessary, position patients, select appropriate imaging techniques, and ensure the technical quality of images. Common interventional radiology procedures include angioplasty, stent placement, thrombolysis, uterine artery embolization, and vertebroplasty, often performed with nurses during trauma events, with patients under anesthesia or moderate sedation. Additionally, they will enter and monitor patient data, perform quality assurance on radiology equipment, and assist with accreditation applications.

As a lead they will check in with CT, X-ray and MRI techs, serving as the go-to person for these teams. They will promote professional growth through continuing education and skills competency, support department goals, and serve as a mentor to less experienced staff, including training new graduates through a fellowship program. They demonstrate a commitment to compassionate and personalized patient care.
